Measure Education’s Privacy Policy

Measure Education Inc.(“MeasureED,” “we,” or “us”) treats privacy as an incredibly important issue for all stakeholders in the education system whose information we may access on behalf of a School (“Students”).

This privacy policy applies to our data management, training and analysis services and describes the steps we take to protect your data.

COLLECTING AND USING INFORMATION

We may ask for certain information when a School administrator corresponds with us by phone or online, including account name and password, and other information relating to the School’s information systems. We may also retain information provided by a School if the School sends us a message. When a School begins using MeasureED Services, we will keep records of activities related to the Service. We use this information to operate and provide the Service, to improve our Service offerings, and to communicate with our Schools.

MeasureED may have access to personally identifiable information about students (“Student Data”) in the course of providing its services to a School. We consider Student Data to be confidential and do not use such data for any purpose other than to provide the services on the School’s behalf. MeasureED never interacts with the Student directly.  MeasureED has access to Student Data only as requested by the School and only for the purposes of performing Services on the School’s behalf.

When a School begins using MeasureED Services, MeasureED may be determined to be listed as a school official with a legitimate educational interest in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and is provided with the same training on FERPA as faculty and staff.  MeasureED does not knowingly collect any information online from children under the age of 13 and all services provided are within compliance of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act(COPPA).  Please contact us at privacy@measureeducation.com if you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information of a child under 13.

SHARING INFORMATION

MeasureED does not rent or sell information for marketing purposes.  In some cases, we may share information with those that provide us with services that are strictly related to the delivery of our service.  We may also be required to share information with law enforcement or other third parties when compelled to do so by court order or other legal process, to comply with statutes or regulations, or if we believe that the disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property or personal safety of our Schools.

We do not facilitate the sharing of any Student Data with third parties that use our Service except on behalf of the School after the School has authorized a third party application or service to access Student Data.  This Privacy Policy applies to the MeasureED Services, and not other third party applications or services, which may have their own privacy policies. Schools should read the privacy practices of each third party application or Service before agreeing to engage with them.

PROTECTION OF YOUR INFORMATION

MeasureED maintains strict procedures to protect information stored in our servers, workstations and the servers of our service providers.  Access to information is limited to employees who require it to perform their job functions. Other security safeguards include but are not limited to usage of multiple factor authentication and strong passwords, virtual private networks and physical access controls to building and files.

DATA RETENTION

Following termination or deactivation of a School account or Services Contract, MeasureED may retain profile information and content for a commercially reasonable time for backup, archival, or audit purposes.  Physical copies of Student Data will be disposed of in a physical destruction process that takes reasonable precaution to not be recovered or recreated.  Any and all Student Data associated with the School will be deleted within 1 year, or immediately upon request.  Please send all such requests to privacy@measureeducation.com.

VENDOR AND SUCCESSOR ENTITIES

In the event of the sale of assets or merger of the company, personal information of our clients will not be transferred unless the new entity continues to offer a similar service and adopts a privacy policy that is as robust as our own.  If this occurs, Schools will be provided with notice and an opportunity to opt-out of the transfer of Student Data.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

Measure Education may periodically change this Privacy Policy.  If we change this policy in a material manner, we will provide at least 30 days notice before the changes take affect to the School if they are a current user of the service.

This privacy policy was last modified on October 29, 2015. Effective Date: January 1, 2016.
